about SICE

The current “SICE” project evolved from two sources: 1.) “S3Snow”…the Dec. 2016 – Jan. 2019 ESA Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) Sentinel-3 for Science (S34Sci) Land Study 1: Snow (ESRIN Contract 4000118926/16/I-NB) . and 2.) the Dec. 2018 – July 2020 Pre-operational Sentinel-3 snow and ice products (SICE)

The work was synergistically supported by the Jan 2019 – Dec 2020 ESA PRODEX program’s support of a third contract entitled:  An operational service of new Sentinel-3 algorithms for climate monitoring of the Greenland Cryosphere within the CryoClim network

S3Snow provided processors to generate snow and ice optical products for the land ice cryosphere and 100% snow covered areas, that extend the coverage of NASA MODIS data into the future now with Sentinel-3A operating since Oct 2016 and Sentinel-3B since 2018.
